Diversity Efforts:
has a Minorities and Philosophy (MAP) chapter or similar diversity group

has hosted an event focused on diversity and inclusion within the past year
provides annual sexual harassment, bystander, and climate training (directly or through our institution)
ensures department events are accessible to participants with disabilities
provides accommodations for faculty and guest speakers with disabilities
provides accommodations for students, faculty, and others with disabilities (directly or through our institution)
educates faculty and staff about disability accommodations and how to obtain them (directly or through our institution)
offers multiple courses in which philosophers from underrepresented groups are included on the syllabus in proportion to their numbers in the profession and/or which focus on philosophical issues related to race, gender, disability, class, etc.
has a mentoring program for junior faculty and/or graduate students that addresses issues of diversity and inclusion
Additional efforts to increase inclusiveness:
USF is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action, and Equal Access employer. The USF Department of Philosophy welcomes a diversity of approaches to the study of philosophy, including analytic, continental, historical, literary, and multicultural. Above all, we seek to prepare our students to make contributions in their areas of expertise and to become responsible members of the philosophical community. Our department has historical and systematic interests. We are particularly committed to four general areas: 1. History of Philosophy; 2. Continental Philosophy; 3. History and Philosophy of Science; 4. Ethics, Social and Political, and Feminist Philosophy. The University and the Department makes some limited funds available for student conference participation and prospective student visits. We have offered a graduate reading group in feminist aesthetics and taught a graduate seminar in feminist philosophy of science. We will be teaching a graduate seminar in feminist philosophy this Spring. We have recruited numerous minority graduate students and have succeeded in matriculating a much higher-than-average proportion of Hispanic students. /
