The Penn State Philosophy Doctoral Program enrolls the most diversity doctoral students in the country: 25. The Rock Ethics Institute also houses the Critical Philosophy of Race journal. Critical philosophy of race, post-colonial philosophy, and feminist philosophy are research-teaching areas for the Philosophy Department.

Program Strengths:
Strengths in critical philosophy of race, feminist philosophy, post-colonial philosophy, and Frankfurt School complement the philosophy department's has a longstanding strength in continental philosophy and the history of philosophy.
