Program Strengths
We offer a terminal masters degree in philosophy with a specialty in environmental philosophy. We also offer a graduate certificate in environmental ethics. In addition to preparing students for a philosophy PhD, we equip students for careers in environmental policy, law, government, journalism, the non-profit sector, and other natural resource related fields. A summer internship with a non-profit organization is a requirement of the program.
In 2016 we received a Distinctive Program designation from the Western Interstate Commission on Higher Education enabling students from 15 regional states to enroll at Montana in-state tuition rates.
