The Department of History and Philosophy of Science includes areas of concentration in Early Modern Science and Philosophy; Classics, Philosophy and Ancient Science; History and Philosophy of Biology; History and Philosophy of Physics; and History and Philosophy of Psychology, Neuroscience and Phychiatry. The HPS Department has close ties both with the Philosophy Department at the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University.
