Program Strengths

Our greatest strength is in Ethics, Political and Social Philosophy. We have a strong connection with the Murphy Institute Center for Ethics and Public Affairs on our campus, which funds 14 visiting speakers and several conferences each year, provides support for graduate students, and has three year-long faculty research fellows visiting from other institutions. We are also quite strong in history, especially in Ancient, Kant, and the history of political philosophy. We have moderate strength in Philosophy of Mind.
