We normally fill 12 teaching assistant positions, combined between our MA and PhD students. For 2021-22, these 9-month TA positions provided a full tuition waiver plus a $12,800 9-month stipend for MA students and $13,500 9-month stipend for PhD students. Additional competitive fellowships, which can boost the stipend, are available for eligible PhD applicants. MA students receive two years of funding, PhD students three years. Adjunct teaching is sometimes available for PhD students who have exhausted their teaching assistantship.

Program Strengths
We offer separate M.A. and PhD programs, and the PhD is a three-year degree open only to students who have already received their M.A. We have particular strengths in philosophy of mind and psychology, philosophy of religion, metaphysics and epistemology, and the history of philosophy. We also house the journal Philosophical Topics.
